Preface:
I welcome all the students to the new academic year in Atmiya Institute of technology & Science, Rajkot-360005.
I am sure that students will be in a position to avoid considerable hardships if they go through this booklet regularly and follow all the instructions.
Please note that this booklet cannot and does not replace the notifications, which would be displayed from time to time.
Principles:
1. Opening/Reopening of Year/Semester:
Important instructions after joining the institute are –
* Submission of joining report:
Students not submitting the joining report will not be allowed to attend the classes.
* Payment of fees:
* Obtaining identity card (for new admissions only)
All the students are supposed to bring this I card while coming to the institute and show it for inspection when demanded by teachers / college officials and security.
* Damaged or Loss I Card:
If the I-card is damaged or loss, new I Card will be issued after paying a charge of Rs.100/- in the Account Section.
* Submission of Eligibility Certificate for Central & Other board students
* Submission of pending original documents
2. University Rules for Attendance:
For a student to excel academically, he must attend 100% of lectures and practical. Absence of students due to unavoidable reasons such as sickness or family functions should be limited to 25% of the total attendance as 75% attendance for theory as well as practical is the eligibility for appearing for university examination.Attendance on Independence Day/ Republic Day and other important gathering is compulsory. Absence on these days will attract disciplinary action.
3. Submission of University Examination Forms:
For University Examination forms, Notice will be Display in student section notice board in advance, filled examination forms are to be collected as per notice in the class room., if any student fails to submit his/her examination forms as per schedule he/she will be penalized. It is advisable to all the students that those who are filling the first year examination forms should mention their name as per H.S.C. mark sheet.
Separate examination forms are to be filled up for A.T.K.T & regular examinations.4. Issue of University Examination Receipt:
Examination receipts are issued to students well in advance before the examination, Students are advised to verify subjects mentioned on the university seat no. list with the subject they intend to attempt. A separate receipt is issued if there is any backlog from the previous year/s. Please also check that the name is correctly printed in the list of seat nos. If there is any discrepancy in the name or in the subjects, it is to be brought to the notice of Students’ Section immediately with application. Examination receipt will not be issued if the student’s due for the respective academic year.* Duplicate Examination receipt:
In case original receipt is misplaced or damaged, the duplicate hall ticket can be obtained on paying a fine of Rs.20/-
5. Passing Standard of University Exam:
40% in each head or 45% in each subject total, provided 30% in each head
6. University Detention & A.T.K.T. (Allowed to Keep Terms) Rules:
R.Engg.2:
1. A candidate who is eligible to appear but fails to appear for the 1st year examination, will not be permitted to kept term of 3rd semester.
2. A candidate who appears, but fails in not more than 4 heads of 1st year, will be allowed to keep term of the 3rd semester.
R.Engg.3:
1. A candidate who is eligible to appear, but fails to appear for the 3rd semester examination, will be permitted to kept term of 4th semester, provided he/she passes the 1st year examination.
2. A candidate who appears for the 3rd semester examination but fails in not more than 4 heads of 1st year & 3rd semester examination together will be allowed to keep term of the 4th semester. He/She will have to pass 1st year examination, before he/she is allowed to keep term of 5th semester
R.Engg.4:
1. A candidate who is eligible to appear for the 4th semester examination, but fails to appear for the 4th semester examination, will be permitted to kept term of 5th semester, provided he/she passes the 1st year & 3rd semester examination.
2. A candidate who appears, but fails in not more than 4 heads of 3rd semester & 4th semester together, will be allowed to keep term of the 5th semester. He/She will have to pass 1st year & 3rd semester examination, before he/she is allowed to keep term of 6th semester
R.Engg.5:
1. A candidate who is eligible to appear for the 5th semester examination, but fails to appear for the 5th semester examination, will be permitted to kept term of 6th semester, provided he/she passes the 1st year, 3rd semester & 4th semester examination.
2. A candidate who appears, but fails in not more than 4 heads of 4th semester & 5th semester together, will be allowed to keep term of the 6th semester. He/She will have to pass 1st year & 3rd semester examination, before he/she is allowed to keep term of 6th semester
R.Engg.6:
1. A candidate who is eligible to appear for the 6th semester examination, but fails to appear for the 6th semester examination, will be permitted to kept term of 7th semester, provided he/she passes the 1st year, 3rd, 4th & 5th semester examination.
2. A candidate who appears, but fails in not more than 4 heads of 5th semester & 6th semester together will be allowed to keep term of the 7th semester. He/She will have to pass 1st year & 3rd ,4th semester examination, before he/she is allowed to keep term of 7th semester
R.Engg.7:
1. A candidate who is eligible to appear for the 7th semester examination, but fails to appear for the 7th semester examination, will be permitted to kept term of 8th semester, provided he/she passes the 1st year, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th semester examination.
2. A candidate who appears, but fails in not more than 4 heads of 6th semester & 7th semester together will be allowed to keep term of the 8th semester. He/She will have to pass 1st year & 3rd ,4th & 5th semester examination, before he/she is allowed to keep term of 8th semester.
7. Rules for Grassing Marks in University Exam:
Ordinance 164:
A Candidate whose total falls short of the requisite total for the First or Second Class or Distinction up to 5 Marks shall be given the necessary marks by which his/her total falls short and shall be declared to have passed with first class or Second class o with Distinction as the case may be.
Ordinance 164-A
A Candidate whose total falls short of the requisite total for the 55% of marks at the post Graduate Degree Final Examinations upto 5 marks shall given the necessary marks to reach the 55% of total marks.
5 marks given under this provision shall be added in the grand total.
This provision shall not be applicable to the examinations under the faculties of Medicine & Technology including Engineering.
This provision shall be effective from the examinations held in March 1993.
Ordinance 165
Where a candidate in a Saurashatra university fails in not more than two heads of passing (whether distinct heads, subheads or group heads or grand total), his failure therein shall be condoned as follows:

A candidate whose failure is condoned under this Ordinance shall be eligible for classes in the same way as other successful candidates but not for scholarship or other awards.
Provided that if the standard of passing in the different subjects at any examination in 50% or more, condonation to he extent mentioned above may be given for the purpose of passing or exemption in three subjects.
Ordinance 166
Where a candidate who appears in all the subjects of a university examination fails in not more than three heads of passing and where the total deficiency in his marks in one two or three heads of passing taken together in not more than 10 marks; his deficiency in marks in the head or more heads not exceeding three taken together shall be condoned on the basis of one mark for every one percent by which the total marks secured by him in all the subjects exceed the total of the minimum marks required for passing in all the subjects.
For the purpose of condonation a fraction of half or more than half shall be computed as one.
A Candidate passing the Examination under this Ordinance is eligible for a class provided his percentage prior to condonation entitles to it.
Candidate getting the benefit on this basis shall not be entitled to prizes or scholarship.
Notwithstanding anything contained above the provisions mentioned in this Ordinance will also apply to candidates who appear for an examination wherein accordance with the rule & regulations to that particular examination the candidate in entitled to exception in or more subjects to the examinations and in such cases the condonation will be given on the basis of the total marks obtained by the students in the subjects in which he is required to appear in the examination according to the relevant rule or regulation.
Ordinance 167
Where a candidate who appears in all the subjects of a University examination fails in not more than three heads of passing and where the total deficiency in his marks in one or more heads taken together is more than 10 marks and where the candidate grand total is greater than the total of the minimum marks for passing in all the subjects by at least 10% of the total obtainable, his case shall be placed for consideration before an ad-hic committee to be appointed by vice- chancellor every year. The committee shall recommend to the Vice-chancellor whether the failure in the head or the heads of passing may be condoned or not. The Vice chancellors decision of the committee’s recommendation shall be final.
Ordinance 168
Where a candidate fails only in one subjects and fails to get exemption in only one other subject by not more than three marks in that subject, his marks in the other subjects shall be increased by 1,2 or 3 marks as the case may be so as to entitle him to exemption in that subject and to give his the benefit allowed to keep terms for the higher examination where it is permissible to do so under the relevant Ordinance.
8. University Result Reassessment:
Student who want to reassess/recheck the result have to approach Saurashtra University and fill the reassessment form within 10 days from the result date. The result of reassessment will be directly sent to student as per the address mentioned in the reassessment form of Saurashtra University .
9. Correction of Mark Sheets:
If there is increase in the marks after verification / revaluation, the student has to produce the Photo copy of mark sheet to students’ section within 4 days from declaration of verification / revaluation results.
10. Certificates:
1. Bona fide CertificateBona fide certificates can be obtained by the student by making an application in the prescribed format. Every year one bona fide certificate can be issued free. For subsequent issues a charge of Rs.10/- has to be paid.
2. No Objection Certificate
If a student wishes to cancel the admission in this Institute in order to join some other institute, the student and his guardian have to make separate applications to the Principal stating reasons for cancellation of admission.
3. Transference Certificate
When a student cancels or transfers his admission from this institute and takes admission in some other institute, he has to apply for transfer certificate in the prescribed format available in Students’ Section on payment of fee of Rs.5/-.For transfer certificate students must keep photo copy of H.S.C.,photo copy of School Leaving, photo copy of last year mark sheet & admission letter or fee receipt where he/she admitted
4. Migration Certificate
Migration certificate is to be issued by the affiliated university on producing the transfer certificate of the concerned institute along with the fees payable for migration certificate.
5. Transcripts
Transcript (Istitute Record)will be provided to the students on request in the prescribed format along with the photo copy of mark sheet of all semesters. These copies are signed by the Principal. The signed copies are to be sealed in individual envelopes and the envelopes are also sealed under the signature of the Principal. Transcript will be ready within five days on payment of necessary fees. The fee for issuing transcript is Rs.100/- for one copy. If any student required signature of principal in photocopy of mark sheet, photocopy submitted with transcript application.
11. Mobile Phones:
All students to note that use of mobile phones in institute buildings is strictly prohibited.
12. Intimation of Chang in Address:
If there is any change in the local or the permanent address, it is to be intimated immediately to the Students’ Section.
13. Co-Curricular Activities:
The staff in charges of Sports and Cultural activities put up notices inviting students to participate in respective activities. Interested students in any of such activities are requested to contact the in charge of respective activity.
14. Railway Concession Forms:
Students interested in availing Railway concessions for travel to and from their native place during vacation have to apply in the prescribed form after the vacation period is declared. The railway concession forms issued by the college are valid only for 14 days and students have to book their tickets during this time limit. The above concession forms are issued only once during every vacation.
15. Lost and Found:
In case a student loses or finds any article, it is to be reported to the student section and the found article is to be deposited in the section. The student section puts up notices regarding lost and found items and returns the found articles to its original owner on due verification.
16. University Degree Certificate:
The convocation form for obtaining degree certificate is to be filled up along with the final year examination form. The degree certificate will be issued by the university only after convocation, in between if any students require provisional degree certificate he/she, should directly contact the university with the receipt of final year examination & photo copy of the final year mark sheet.
